Help I’m Depressed – How to Fight Depression and Win

“I’m depressed” – until now I remember how depression came to my life…to stay. Everything suddenly dimmed, and I was alone with cold, black void that consumed my soul and feelings.

Back then I was only a teenager- and that made things were even more complicated. But, as the years passed, I learned to cope and defeat that condition, and now I want to share my knowledge.

Don’t think I’m one of those that say “oh, it’ll pass.”. I won’t be telling you that. I could pretty much guess how you feel, but depression is always a personal tragedy.

Nobody really knows how horrible it is, especially the people who have never been depressed. To them, your “I’m depressed” sounds more like “Oh, I have a bad mood today”.

Don’t blame them, especially if it’s your loved ones. I’d bet they’d be shocked to find out how hopeless your world has become. Remember that the only man that can truly help yourself is you.

Of course, I don’t mean you don’t have to look for outside help. There are plenty of things out there that can help you right away, from vitamins and up to psychiatrists. However, the key is not to rely on those methods completely.

Seen “The Matrix”? Remember how Morpheus said Neo “I can only show you the door, but you’re the one who have to walk through it”? That’s exactly what I’m talking about!

So, instead of saying yourself “I’m depressed”, you should better ask a different question, namely “am I depressed?” Are you experiencing long periods of bad mood? Have you lost all hope? Do you have panic, anxiety, or simply find it difficult to concentrate?

If you answered all of the questions above positively – chances are you have clinical depression. So, what do we do with it?

That’s a tricky question, really. Some psychiatrists offer to start taking pills, others try to identify and remove the causes of depression from your life.

I strongly believe that in order to truly fight the depression, you need to root out the things that caused it. Is it your job? Your family? Is there something else that literally drives you nuts? Just identify that reason and fix it.

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t use Prozac. There are situations like suicidal depression when the pills are absolutely necessary! However, I like to compare those drugs with analgesics.

They will make the pain go away long enough for you to do something about it, but you can’t take them forever. Look at it this way – when you have a wounded arm that needs a surgery, you can’t do without the pain relievers, but you definitely need to treat the arm so that the pain goes away!

Once you’ve identified and fixed the problems with your life, you will never have to say “I’m depressed” again. You will see how quickly your depression will fade to none, and the life will shine. Good luck with that, and remember – there’s always a cause for depression!

The pain of broken heart is not like any other pain but a deep wound and to be frank, it seriously sucks. There is a lot of ways to get rid of this pain but there is no quick fix. Teen Hut has got some tips which might help you in feeling better in such situations.

The first thing during such situations is “Crying”. It though sounds weird but crying seriously works. Depression or broken heart is not a physical wound but is something that affects your heart and mind which cannot be healed by any medicines but rather shedding getting over it with time. Crying doesn’t only mean shedding tears but in such situations, you also get rid of much of your frustration and emotions which make you feel bad or even worse. There is no time to put up brave faces like nothing has happened. You are heart broken and depressed and it is perfectly alright to cry. Just make sure that you cry in a private place or in a company of a very close and trustable friend and not publicly.

The second thing which is very important in such situations is ‘Distracting Yourself’. Do it as much as possible and don’t devote yourself much time to think on this ugly situation. The more you think on it, the harder the life becomes. Try to keep your mind out of it and keep yourself busy all the time. The lesser the time you spend thinking on this matter, the lesser the pain you have to experience. Doing some physical activities like playing sports, exercises or spending time studying and listening to music helps a lot.

The third thing what Teen Hut wishes to suggests you is that you should tell everything that has happened to a very close and trusted friend or any family member. This will ease your mind and you will feel much better with the sympathy of the other person. This is one of the most effective ways to get rid of frustration during such situations. The last thing which you should be doing is focusing on the future rather than sitting down thinking of the past. Usually people who deal with break ups tend to think of the past regardless of future and remain upset a much longer time which could have had gotten rid faster. After a couple of days have passed since your depression, you should try and forget the past though not so easy but until and unless a trial attempt is made, you can never succeed. You do not have to bury your past forever but just now since you need to get out of this situation as fast as possible. Think positive and avoid listening to heart during such situations.
